Algal Bloom, the first single from my album Strewn with Crimson, is out today on SWIMS. I have also made a video to accompany it.
Thanks so much to letterpress artist Russell Frost for the wonderful mandolin playing, recorded in his Hooksmith workshop surrounded by Victorian printing presses and collections of wooden and metal type.
Strewn with Crimson is an exploration of place, shaped by the wetlands, marshes and edgelands along the Lea Valley in East London. The album weaves together site-specific field recordings, found object sounds, modular synthesis and processed acoustic instruments to create an evocative sonic portrait of a landscape in constant transition.
The single is available on all streaming platforms and on bandcamp, where you can also preorder the album on CD or digital ahead of its 27th November release.
