Yellow is a site-specific installation created during an artist residency at Gapado AiR on the tiny, remote island of Gapado South Korea. The work transforms a collection of mundane plastic objects washed up by the sea into a sculptural composition. The decision to include only yellow items is an aesthetic choice informed by the colour of the island’s rapeseed flowers and unripened spring tangerine fruits. It was shown during the artist’s open studio exhibition, after which all the objects were delivered to the island’s plastic waste recycling centre.
