My latest album ‘Red to Orange, Blue to Black’ is out now on Home Normal.
‘Red to Orange, Blue to Black’ was recorded in October 2019 during a five day residency at EMS (Elektronmusikstudion) in Stockholm, Sweden. It is a purely electronic work, created with vintage Serge and Buchla 200 analogue modular synthesizer systems.
Plucky tones and slow melodies patched with analogue sequencers, function generators and random modulations weave through rich harmonic drones, bathed in warm delays and the metallic sheen of spring reverb.
As with all of Wil’s work, he presents an album of uniquely brilliant sound design with multiple subtle layers of melody. It is a bold work of synth experimentation that is both playful yet highlights Wil as one of the leading ambient-electronic artists around today.
Thanks to Ian Hawgood for releasing this and for the fantastic mastering and to my partner Soo for the lovely photography. And a massive thanks to everyone at EMS for the opportunity to record there.

Reviews
“A psychedelic synth drone drifts slowly while vibrating slightly, and a layered synth with an inorganic phrase that sounds like a distorted mechanical sound with effects or a signal sound, which is sporadically played and connected. Hypnotic minimal ambient ~ drone ~ experimental sound floating in the air. Up until now, he has released soft pop ambient music and electro-acoustic works using live instruments, but this time he uses only modular synths and effects to create a collection of electronic music as if from the 1960s and 1970s, a kind of electronic acoustic. It is a deep minimal synth sound work of minimal music type.” – Linus Records
